James Gunn posted “See Supergirl in theaters now.” I passed:
“No thank you. Go woke, go broke.”
That’s it. That’s the review.
To be straight, I haven’t seen it and I’m not going to. This isn’t a movie review. It’s where my money goes.
The ticket counter is a vote too. Studios keep taking characters people grew up on and using them to lecture the audience. Then fans push back and get called names. Then the box office comes in soft and everybody acts surprised.
Make movies for people, not at them. Heroes. Right and wrong. Leave the politics out of the popcorn.
Do that and I’ll buy a ticket. Until then, no thank you.
A couple more of my takes:
You mean having their star turn toxic avenger and sabotage the film by going full woke LGBT antagonist on them?
Telling the world Supergirl is gay kinda damaged the franchise on the cusp of the release date?
Ask Disney how that goes. They promoted it themselves though, with their toxic remake of the 7-dwarves story.
This one was more woke-to-broke in one easy step skipping all the bad choices and being dragged along against your will by you own main star…
Heap-bad-juju.
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking it wouldn’t make a difference after you main actor sabotaged it prior to release…. The previous Supergirl was better.
