Living with Chronic Pain

Not politics today. This is about my wife.

🚨Living with Chronic Pain🚨

First-off; no, I’m not a doctor. I am the husband of a brave lady who’s lived with excruciating pain for nearly 20 years now. We’ve been through the wringer.

Here are some very real options, & a warning along with them, that we have experienced first-hand along with a few things we’ve learned over those years.

Hopefully you won’t have to go through everything we did to get here.

There are many ways to deal with pain differently;

Electrotherapy can work quite well, we have tried that, with good success. This is not electroshock, it’s the muscle-twitchy things similar to the weight gadgets, but with more science behind it.

Then there is pain therapy, in which you are taught breathing and other mental & physical exercises to reduce or reset how your brain registers the pain. Also quit good in its way. These become lifelong tools…

There are topical “distractions” such as menthol or other ointments that distract you brain from the pain for a while by giving your body the heating sensation. Doing this during the day can help you regain your focus, or give you the hour or so you need to fall asleep without the pain keeping you up.

Then there is the simple application of heat, or soaking in a hot tub: A hot tub soak at between 104 and 107 degrees for 15-20 minutes for max benefit, depending on what you can tolerate, can give you a few hour’s reprieve.

These are the pain management tools that are available aside from medications.

Everyone subject to long term pain.will need to remove pain meds from your body for a few weeks every year or so in order to reset their effectiveness.

Massage works wonders as well. My wife could get 2-3 days of remission of pain with massage.

These tools alternated according to how well you tolerate them, help you not be so dependent upon being treated like a criminal by pain management organizations such as St. Luke’s pain management in Meridian: Those criminals savaged my wife’s life for some 5 years, for pure spite and blackballed her from all pain management in the state of Idaho, manipulating blood test reports (they conducted their own unsupervised drug testing) because she dared to report the abuse of their patients…

But I digress…

Find what works for you; you can live better and get relief if you explore what works for you. Change it up though, and the relief is real.

We’ve been managing pain for more than 15 years, & what I just covered has worked for us in very real terms. These are the things you can keep doing to make live enjoyable even if you have to live with pain…

Our best combo is hot tub time, then “Deep Blue” a menthol lotion or roll-on just before bed for the best painless sleep ever.

Again: not a Doctor; I don’t even play one on TV, just good ole practical life experience…

Just my view from the cheep seats, laying my 2 Pennies on the table for your consideration…
